Preferred attachment in affiliation networks
نویسنده
چکیده
Vertices of an affiliation network are linked to attributes and two vertices are declared adjacent whenever they share a common attribute. For example, two customers of an internet shop (or video-sharing website) are called adjacent if they have purchased (or downloaded) the same or similar items. Assuming that each newly arrived customer is linked preferentially to already popular items we obtain a preferred attachment affiliation network that evolves in time. We show that the fraction of customers having i neighbours scales as i−2−α ln i for large i. Here α > 0 is the ratio between the two intensities: intensity of the flow of customers and that of the newly arriving items.

Characterizing the Structure of Affliation Networks
Our society contains all types of organizations, such as companies, research groups and hobby clubs. Affiliation networks, as a large and important portion of social networks, consist of individuals and their affiliation relations: Two individuals are connected by a link if they belong to the same organization(s). Affiliation networks naturally contain many fully connected cliques, since the no...
متن کاملCharacterising and modelling social networks with overlapping communities
Abstract Social networks, as well as many other real-world networks, exhibit overlapping community structure. Affiliation networks, as a large portion of social networks, consist of cooperative individuals: Two individuals are connected by a link if they belong to the same organization(s), such as companies, research groups and hobby clubs. Affiliation networks naturally contain many fully conn...
متن کاملSelf-expression, group affiliation, pleasure and memory as predictors of consumer product attachment and satisfaction among mobile phone users
In the post-purchase behaviour of a product, there are challenges with change in the degree of consumer product attachment, and these challenges affect consumer product satisfaction overtime. This study investigated how selfexpression, group affiliation, memory, and demographic variables predicted consumer product attachment and satisfaction among mobile phone users in Ibadan. Three hundred stu...
متن کاملPower-law node degree distribution in online affiliation networks
The purpose of this article is to present a preferential attachment model adjusted to generation of bipartite graphs. The original model is able to produce unipartite graphs with node degree distribution following power law relation. The motivation for extending classic model is the fact that multi-partite graph topologies are becoming more and more popular in social networks. This phenomenon r...

This article studies Sir Walter Scott’s use of the family-as-nation trope in Ivanhoe and Anne of Geierstein. The importance of this trope in his figuration of nationhood is discerned by carrying out a close reading of the texts and placing them in their historical context, which primarily consists of a comparison with Edmund Burke and Maria Edgeworth. Consequently, his position is revealed as b...
